About Me

Hello! My name is Lydia Clay and I am a longtime resident of Kentucky. I attended Morehead State University where I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts. Upon returning to my hometown of Taylorsville, I moved to my family’s farm. The farm is home to many animals that inspire my artworks. The graphite pencil drawing shown on the “Home” page depicts one of the beloved creatures that resides here. “Big John,” after whom the piece is named, was a large standardbred horse that the family held dear. Sadly, Big John passed away very suddenly. This piece of artwork serves as a way to preserve and cherish the kind hearted spirit of this beautiful Kentucky horse.

I am an art teacher at a middle school in Kentucky. I also am a published author who writes and illustrates my own children’s books. “Will You Be My Friend?” and “To the Zoo!” are available as books and coloring books on Amazon. You can contact me through this website to inquire about commissions or private art lessons. You can also see some of my other artwork on my Instagram at “clays._.creations”
